Repair or replace your gutters? How to tell
A repair is the right call for a localized problem, one section pulling away, a leaking seam, a downspout in the wrong place. Replacement earns its cost when the gutter is sectional with a seam every few feet, when the fascia behind it has gone soft, or when the size was wrong for the roof from day one.

What a repair actually fixes
- Re-hanging a sagging run and putting the hangers back where they belong.
- Replacing hangers that have pulled loose, rusted, or were spaced too far apart to hold the run.
- Re-sealing seams, end caps and miters that have opened up and started dripping.
- Repositioning a downspout, or adding one, when a long run has nowhere to send the water.
- Clearing the gutter and correcting the pitch so water moves to the outlet instead of sitting in the middle.

If water is getting behind the gutter instead of into it, the size and position of the gutter is the thing to look at first.
When replacement is the honest answer
Sectional gutter with a joint every few feet. Every joint is a future leak, because the sealant is the only thing holding it and Florida heat works on it all year. Sealing one joint on that gutter usually means the next one goes a season later.
Fascia that has gone soft. The hangers have nothing solid to hold, so a re-hang buys you a few months at best. The board has to be handled before the gutter goes back up.
A gutter that was undersized for the roof from the start. No repair fixes capacity. If the roof sends more water at the gutter than the gutter can carry, it will keep overflowing no matter how clean and how well pitched it is.
The fascia question
The gutter does not hang on the roof. It hangs on the fascia, the board that runs along the roof edge. Every hanger screws into that board, so if the wood is soft or rotted, there is nothing for the screws to bite into.
That means soft fascia has to be handled before or with the new gutter. This is the part that surprises homeowners on the quote, and we would rather say it here than at the door: sometimes the gutter is the cheaper half of the job.

When replacement is the answer, seamless aluminum starts at $7 per linear foot installed. It is fabricated on site, so each run comes off the machine in one continuous piece with no seams to fail later. Repairs are quoted per job after we look at the house, we do not publish a repair price because no two are the same.
